Gynaecology
Outpatient & inpatient
Diagnosis, consultation, conservative and surgical treatment for women’s health.
Thoughtful assessment of women’s health with a clear plan of care
Gynaecology assesses concerns related to menstrual cycles, the pelvic organs, hormonal health and reproductive health. Symptoms, menstrual and reproductive history, medicines and the patient’s goals are discussed confidentially during the consultation.
An examination is performed only when clinically needed and with the patient’s consent. Depending on the situation, pregnancy testing, laboratory tests, infection testing, ultrasound or other diagnostics may be recommended; care is tailored to the identified cause and reproductive plans.
When should you consult a gynaecologist?
- Unusually heavy, prolonged, painful or irregular periods
- Bleeding between periods, after sex or after menopause
- Recurring or persistent lower abdominal or pelvic pain, or pain during sex
- A change in the colour, smell or character of vaginal discharge, itching or burning
- Absent periods or a significant change in the menstrual cycle
- Questions about contraception, pregnancy planning, fertility or follow-up of a known gynaecological condition
How is the consultation organised?
01 • Confidential discussion
Symptoms, menstrual and reproductive history, previous diagnoses, operations and medicines are reviewed, together with the patient’s questions and goals.
02 • Targeted assessment
A consent-based examination, laboratory or infection tests, ultrasound or other diagnostics are selected only when clinically indicated.
03 • Personalised care plan
Observation, medicines or other non-surgical care and, when needed, surgical options are explained, with an appropriate follow-up plan.
Emergency warning signs
Seek emergency care immediately if severe or worsening pelvic pain occurs with heavy vaginal bleeding, fainting, marked dizziness, shoulder-tip pain or breathing difficulty. Unusual bleeding with lower abdominal or pelvic pain after a missed period, or whenever pregnancy is possible, also needs urgent assessment.
This information is for general guidance and does not replace a diagnosis. The need for an examination, tests, ultrasound, medicines or surgery is determined individually after consultation with a gynaecologist.
